The National Economic and Fiscal Commission on Wednesday 31st January 2024 concluded a one-day planning workshop for the 2024 fiscal year.

The workshop was aimed at getting the organization together to discuss how best it can achieve its Key Result Areas stipulated under the NEFC Corporate Plan 2023-2027.

The workshop had team leaders, managers, and directors from all sectors and divisions within the agency present their 2024 work plans aimed at pathing the way forward to achieving the deliverable outcomes in implementing the NEFC Corporate Plan 2023-2027.

For the year 2024, the key priority items or activities have been identified by each division subjected to 30-, 60- and 90-day timeframe in which the organization aspires to achieve.

Though it is yet to be launched, the NEFC Corporate Plan 2023-2027 is now being implemented. NEFC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Patrick Kennedy Painap described the NEFC Corporate Plan 2023-2027 as the strategic direction for the next five years.

Mr. Painap said the action plan workshop for 2024 undertaken by the agency is very important because it sets out strategies for implementing the organization’s corporate plan.

“For the first quarter of the 2024 fiscal year, there are a lot of things we need to do. We come up with our activities and we implement it. So, when we are implementing, we are also implementing our corporate plan,” said Mr. Painap.

He reminded the NEFC staff that the planning workshop is an important exercise for NEFC where everyone needs to get their minds together on what to achieve this year 2024.

“For me, the planning workshop is the short-term plan that we need for the year while the long-term plan is the corporate plan 2023-2027 that we need to achieve together” Painap iterated.

CEO Mr. Painap also reminded everyone to look at how planning is relevant and how it is linked to the overall government system. “I don’t want you to see it in isolation. It is connected or linked to the entire government system and our organizational processes as well and I want you to see it that way while executing your planned activities” he said.

Painap said the next important thing is for the agency to decide when to launch the document.

As the legally mandated independent and impartial advisory state institution to the National Executive Council and the National Parliament on fiscal matters, NEFC is embarking on “teamwork” which is the “theme” for the year to drive the organization forward while executing its duties.

“As we start the beginning of the year and when I took office, I want the change to happen so that we approach what we do in our office as a team. So, we started by undertaking a team building program at the Institute of Business Study (IBS- Centre of Excellence) so that we conduct ourselves, and support each other in what we do,” said Mr. Painap.

When commending everyone for successfully undertaking the 2024 Annual Action Plan Workshop, Mr. Painap said he is pleased with the presentations done as all presentations reflect the NEFC Corporate Plan 2023-2027 and further called on the staff to also come up with their own activities as this goes down to their performances and appraisals.
